This video shows part of Rob and Ange’s experience supporting Auckland FC at Allianz Stadium in Sydney, Australia, especially celebrating with The Port at the end of the match and getting up close with the players. As usual, you can find us at any game by looking for the Chilean flag we take with us everywhere.
This was a thrilling A-League match at Allianz Stadium in Sydney, Australia, where Macarthur FC clashed with the newcomers Auckland FC. This game was part of an exhilarating weekend where all A-League teams came together in Sydney for a unique festival of football called the A-League Unite Round.
For the first time in Auckland FC’s short history, there wasn’t a big booming The Port to cheer on the team, but the couple of dozen that did turn up still made their presence known. There were more Auckland FC fans scattered around other parts of the stadium that were cheering on, mostly in the part of the stadium where the sun wasn’t burning the flesh off our body. We spent the match in the shaded middle near half way.
A-League records broken by Auckland FC
Auckland FC, riding high on an unbeaten start to their inaugural season, faced off against a determined Macarthur FC side eager to make a statement. Auckland FC secured a historic 1-0 victory, thanks to Guillermo May’s crucial 34th-minute goal, marking his first in the A-Leagues and Auckland’s first on Australian soil. This win not only made Auckland FC the first team to win their opening four matches in league history but also the first to achieve four consecutive clean sheets from the start.
